Persons looking at the flooding waters from College Street Bridge
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 19TH 2006:
A continuous downpour of rain early Thursday morning causes flooding in the capital city of Basseterre.

Businesses and schools were forced to close and traffic came to almost a standstill as reports reaching the local radio stations about flooding and mudslides in different parts of the island.

It is reported that water in some areas was as deep as three feet.

~~Adz:Right~~ According to reports from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), what we are experiencing is a weather system and not a Tropical Storm. Mr. Goldwin Caines of NEMA also appealed for persons to stay away from the ghauts and off the roads. He further advised residents not to park in College Street or Westbourne Ghaut.
