Senior Meteorologist at the Control Tower Mr. Maurice Mills said to date nearly 12 inches of rainfall has been recoded so far for the month of October.
He told the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM) on Friday that 1.17" of rain was recorded between 8 P.M. on October 18th and
~~Adz:Right~~8 A.M on the 19th; 5.40" between 8 A.M on the 19th and 2:00 P.M on the 19th and 0.12 inches between 2.00 P.M on the 19th and 8 P.M that same day.
Mr. Mills said that the inclement weather, which brought heavy rain that resulted in widespread flooding, was caused by the passage of a surface low pressure coupled with an upper level trough north of the Lesser Antilles.
"The weather will improve tomorrow Saturday and on Sunday," said Mills.
~~Adz:Left~~He said that 11.97 inches of rain has been recorded at the Airport for the month of October, although larger amounts of rainfall would have been received in other areas of St. Kitts.
St. Kitts has been recording large amounts of rainfall in the month of October in the past few years. 13.89 inches in October 2005 and 18.70 inches in October 2004 compared to 5.49 inches in October 2003 and 3.83 inches in October 2002.
