    ~~Adz:Right~~BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 23RD 2006  -  St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry are among speakers at this Wednesday's Annual National Consultation on the Economy.

     

    Prime Minister Douglas will deliver the Feature Address while Premier Parry, who took office last July following the Nevis Island Administration elections, will deliver remarks following the Welcome by Financial Secretary, Mrs. Janet Harris and a Presentation by President of the St.

     

    Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Franklyn Brand.

     

    The 200 participants at the all-day consultation at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort will hear an Overview of the Adaptation Strategy in response to the New European Union Regime 2006 - 2013 from Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Mrs. Hilary Hazel.

     

    St. Kitts and Nevis' Financial Secretary, Mrs. Janet Harris and her counterpart from the Nevis Island Administration, Mr. Laurie Lawrence will give an overview on the Fiscal Performance, Debt and Tax Reform.

    The National Physical Plan will be presented by Director of Physical Planning and Environment, Mr. Ellis Hazel and stakeholders will also hear of the St. Kitts Tourism Sector Strategy.

     

    Each presentation will be followed by a panel discussions during which stakeholders will be given the opportunity to comment, make suggestions and submit recommendations.

     

    Financial Consultant and Ambassador to the OECS, CARICOM and the ACS, His Excellency, Mr. Wendell Lawrence ill review the consultation and Plan of Action.

     

    The Cabinet of the Nevis Island Administration, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Department as well as representatives of Nevis-based businesses, banks and the Nevis Financial Services sector are expected to attend the National Consultation on the St. Kitts and Nevis Economy.
