~~Adz:Left~~Charlestown, Nevis (Oct.24, 2006) In pursuant of a shared commitment to forge a strong and well balanced strategy for all nationals and residents in the Federation, the Prime Minister, Dr., The Hon. Denzil L. Douglas has invited The Premier of Nevis, The Hon. Joseph Parry, to participate in the 2006 National Consultation on the Economy, to be held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Wednesday, October 25th.
The 2006 National Consultation on the Economy is geared towards facilitating a consultative process among the private sector, the public sector and the civil society for the sharing of perspectives and recommendations on the economy.
"The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has benefited tremendously from the contributions and recommendations received from its economic and social partners over the years. Their guidance has ensured the attainment of a productive, growing and sustainable economy, despite our vulnerability and numerous challenges. The commitment and efforts of all stake holders are therefore critical for the empowerment of our people and the successful transformation of our economy" said Prime Minister Douglas.
The theme for the 2006 National Consultation on the Economy is "Empowerment, Transformation- Securing our Future".

Permanent Secretary - Mrs. Hillary Hazel will present An Overview of the Adaptation Strategy in response to the New EU Sugar Regime 2006- 2013.
Following the Remarks and Addresses there will be a short panel discussion after which an overview of fiscal performance, debt and tax reform by the Financial Secretary - Mrs. Janet Harris and Permanent Secretary in the Nevis Island Administration - Mr. Laurie Lawrence.
A National Physical Development Plan will be presented by the Director of Physical Planning and Environment - Mr. Ellis Hazel.
