Nevis Island Administration
~~Adz:Right~~CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (October 25, 2006) -- Minister of Lands in the Nevis Island Administration the Hon. Robelto Hector, in an effort to keep the Nevisian public abreast with ongoing projects on the island made his first official site visit to a major land development project in Hamilton on Tuesday October 24, 2006.

Mr. Hector accompanied by Legal Advisor Mr Patrice Nisbett said his visit to Carino Limited offered the opportunity to tour the development and for frank and fair discussions with Mr Jon Evic, owner of Carino Ltd and his team, over concerns which stemmed from the contractual arrangements the company had entered into with the previous administration.

Mr. Nisbett outlined some areas of concern the new Nevis Reformation Party led Administration had regarding the project which included land usage for maximum returns to the people of Nevis.

(L-R) Lawyer Jeffrey Romaney, Mr Rawlinson Isaac, NIA Legal Advisor Mr Patrice Nisbett, Hon Robelto Hector, Jon Evic owner of Carino Ltd and Ms Caroline Browne tour the Hamilton Estate Development.
"I must tell the people of Nevis that the Administration in Nevis has a stake in this particular project and we must remind them if they are not aware of that. One of the concerns we have is in relation to the lands.

I have to say, the land here [Hamilton] is primarily owned by the Nevis Housing and Lands Development Corporation and as a government, we have to protect the interest of the people of Nevis and ensure that the lands are developed in accordance with the contract and in accordance with how the project brings most benefits to the people of Nevis," he said.

Mr. Nisbett said he was confident that good sense would prevail and the discussions would bear fruit.  He said he was hopeful that Carino Limited, a bona fide company, would act in good faith and could only move forward in a positive manner with the Nevis Government.

~~Adz:Right~~Meantime, Mr. Evic took the opportunity to give his company's continued assurance that 100 rooms would be available ahead of the World Cup Cricket scheduled in St Kitts in 2007.

He said a number of workers had been employed to ensure that the rooms would be completed.
