St. Kitts-Nevis Information Service
Basseterre, St. Kitts (April 23, 2004): Final adjustments are being made to the new billing system at the electricity department ensuring that full operation can commence in the near future.

This is according to Systems Manager Mrs. Eurta Chiverton who explained some specific activities that have been taking place over the recent past.  She explained that her division is fine-tuning the system, correcting all errors, finalizing the bill forms as well as updating readings and balances.

Mrs. Chiverton said the new bills will have a completely different appearance.  She said they are green and have more electricity consumption information than the present bills, while the information fits on a letter sized sheet instead of the present postcard sized bills.  With the detailed information provided, expectations are that customers would be able to work out their own bills thus reducing bill queries.

The Systems Manager said the advantages of the new system includes an increased speed of billing cycles, improved accuracy and consistency.

She revealed that the old and new billing systems have been running parallel for the past six months and most of the problems have already been sorted out.

The new improved billing system is part of the overall upgrade of the Electricity Department.
