Basseterre, St. Kitts (October 27, 2006): A brief ceremony was held at the Police Headquarters Parking Lot at 11.00 am Friday, October 27, 2006.

This ceremony was a handing over of keys for a vehicle to the police department from the Police Credit Union Ltd.
Present at the ceremony were National Security Minister Hon. Dwyer Astaphan, Hon Cedric Liburd, Acting Commissioner of Police Meredith Charles, Police Officers, members of the Police Co-operative Credit Union Ltd (PCCU) and other invited guest.
Leslie Connor Vice President of the PCCU gave the welcome remarks while Zenhastel Hector President of the PCCU also addressed the audience.
Acting Commissioner of Police Meredith Charles gave his remarks, while President Hector of PCCU handed over the keys to Minister of National Security Hon. Dwyer Astaphan.
Minister Astaphan then handed the keys to the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Austin Williams.
PCCU Vice President said that he hopes that the police would take good care of the vehicle and treat it as their personal vehicle. He added that it should be clean often as seen fit because dirt rotten things, so in that case the vehicle must be well kept.

Minister Astaphan said that PCCU is a good organization to belong to and he thanked PCCU for this tangible contribution to the police force.
He also said that he would like to commend Hector for the tremendous gift and that a monument should be put in place for him for his hard work and dedication.
The Vehicle was then blessed by the Force Chaplain Pastor L. Benjamin.
Some other items were handed over to the police department such as a Bullet Proof Vest, and a big heavy duty Search Light from citizens of the federation who wish to stay anonymous.
