     - Several nationals of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis were among 1,452 graduates from the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.

    Speaking at the graduation ceremony on Sunday, Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Nigel Harris said the enrollment numbers at the Cave Hill Campus had grown from 3,900 in previous years to in excess of 7,700. in addition, there were 1,452 graduands up from 1,088.
     
    However, there were no increases to staff in departments where there was the greatest growth, posing a possible challenge to the quality of undergraduate and graduate programmes being offered, he said.
     
    According to the Nation newspaper, Mr.  Harris disclosed that the UWI has received $7 million in funding from private sector companies.

    "We must commit to providing the infrastructure, staff, building, technology and other resources to meet expanding needs," Harris added.
     
    He said that over the past year the campus made attempts to improve the student services by including the employment of a career service counsellor, increasing security and launching programmes aimed at developing entrepreneurs. In addition, students were able to register on-line
