    Elderly marching through Basseterre.
    (Basseterre; St. Kitts):
    The month of October was all about the elderly and as the month concludes today, Tuesday October 31, elderly citizens marched through the streets of Basseterre.
     
    They began their march at the Tamrind Tree at Greenlands and made their way through the streets of climaxing at the Independence Square.
     
    The elderly persons were also assisted by primary school children and their teachers and all displaying placards encouraging people to show love to an elderly person.
     
    One elderly lady who was very happy to be apart of the march told SKNVibes that she hopes the people will show love and respect towards them.
     
    The Month of the Elderly observance kicked off on 1 Oct., 2006 and featured several awareness activities such as an annual indoor picnic.

    Prizes were given out at the picnic to show the Department of Social Development's and in general, the Federation of St. Kitts/Nevis' gratitude for their contribution to not only the event but also to the development of the Federation.
     
    An exhibition which was postponed due to the weather conditions, according to Social Development Supervisor, Ann Wigley, will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the back of the St. Kitts Museum or the old Treasury Building.~~Adz:Left~~
