Basseterre, St. Kitts (November 01, 2006): Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #8 Hon. Cedric Liburd has delivered on his promise to provide a new and improved sporting facility for use by the Conaree community and other residents.
"The official opening of this magnificent Conaree Sporting Complex means a lot to me," Minister Liburd explained, noting that the process was unavoidably lengthy due to delays caused by an unrelated financial issue experienced by the Stanford Investment Group. The organization agreed to fund the new $2.5 million facility in partnership with government.
"Even though it took sometime to finish, there is no doubt in our minds that this state-of-the-art complex was well worth waiting for because I understand that this (facility) is the best sporting complex in St. Kitts outside of Warner Park," he told residents and government officials, headed by Prime Minister Hon. Denzil Douglas, who attended the opening ceremony.

The newest sporting ground in St. Kitts and Nevis features a football field and dual use basketball and netball court.
It also includes a cricket field that will be used for practice by the four teams that will be based in St. Kitts for the first round of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2007.
This facility is the latest development in the community which Minister Liburd pledged to transform socially and economically when elected to office in 1995.
Since then the garbage refuse area which was known as "Conaree Dump" was converted into a Sanitary Landfill.
A modern piggery was constructed; two housing developments built and roads were constructed and resurfaced.
