Nevis Island Administration Pr
Premier of Nevis and Minister of Education on Nevis the Hon. Joseph Parry.
    CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (November 07, 2006) --
Premier and Minister of Education in the Nevis island Administration the Honourable Joseph Parry announced governments intention to ensure that every child on Nevis had a fair chance and equal opportunity in education to enable them to pursue their dreams.
His announcement came during a recent televised address on NTV Channel 8 on Friday, November 03, 2006. The overseas examinations results for students on Nevis had been received just after his administration had taken up office in July.

We are behind you, we will provide the resources, we will provide the teachers with whatever is necessary, behave yourselves in school, he said as he called for the parents support, Parents work with your children and scold then if necessary and make sure you encourage them at all times and I can assure you we will be proud of them because they will certainly do well.

~~Adz:Right~~The Education Minister took the opportunity to remind the Nevisian public that the Nevis Reformation Party led Administration was committed to transforming the education system on the island into a comprehensive, coordinated and coherent agenda. The education agenda he noted would effectively prepare the students to lead a productive life, to access tertiary education and specialised learning, particularly in new technologies and for the job opportunities of the 21st century.

Notwithstanding, Mr Parry issued words of advice to students of the Charlestown Secondary School (CSS) from some hotspots who attended the school, some of who were undergoing disciplinary action [in the aftermath of a fracas which involved students at the school recently] and their parents.

He said he had began to play his part but issued a call to the community to throw its support behind the schools, teachers and their children to secure peace and harmony among all the students particularly those at the CSS.

~~Adz:Left~~I am playing my part because I have started to meet with the parents and I will meet with the parents of all the children. I will speak to the children and it is our intention to ensure that there is a guidance counsellor who is working with the parents of Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Forms outside the school, of course, along with the counsellors who are in school, he said.

Mr Parry also appealed to the parents to respect the rules of the school and to understand that when decisions were taken, they were done in the interest of the school, the children, the parents and the community.
