(Charlestown; Nevis): "Redefining excellence on the Educational Frontier" was the theme for the Charlestown Secondary School's annual Graduation and Prize giving ceremony, which was held, at the Charlestown Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon.
The ceremony, which began shortly after 4 p.m. honoured Kimala Swanston for Best Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) results and Mr. Aniruddha Joshi for Best Caribbean Secondary Examinations (CSEC) results.
Swanston obtained distinctions in year two Advanced Communication Studies and Accounting while passing a total of 5 Advanced level subjects. She received the Principals Medallion, The Bank of Nevis Award, The T.D.C. Award, The Panell Kerr Forster Award, The Nevis Youth Council Award as well as the Millicent Byron Award.
Joshi obtained distinctions in CSEC level English A, Caribbean History, Principles of Business, Spanish, Information Technology, Principles of Accounts, Typing, Mathematics, Geography, Chemistry and Physics while passing a total of 12 CSEC subjects. He received The Millicent Byron Award, The Nevis Youth Council Award, The Bank of Nevis Award as well as The Principal's Medallion.
The ceremony, which began shortly after 4:00 p.m., featured an address by Mrs. Sherming Lewis as well as brief remarks by the Deputy Premier, Hon. Hensley Daniel. ~~Adz:Right~~
In response, CAPE graduate Camara Lee noted that her school experiences helped her to adjust to life in "the real world".
"I feel that the knowledge gained from each of my classes can definitely help me in my career in the future. Thank you to the Charlestown Secondary School and Sixth Form College for helping me to emerge into a mature and respectable young lady. You taught me well, but I won't give up now. Life is like a coin, you can spend it in any way you like but you can only spend it once."
