Eric Saunders a.k.a. "Lord Anything" said that he feels that the greater the standard of Calypso the more competitive it will be.

"I have been singing calypso since 1984, I first sang in the St. Kitts Junior Calypso Competition, before migrating to Anguilla in 1987," he said. 'Since that time I have sang and have place in the top 3 positions in the Anguilla National Calypso Competition several times."

"I feel that the styles of Calypso has changed from the time that I started singing to this point," he said. "I do not feel that it takes away from Calypso but, that it adds more quality once a person does not migrate out of their culture".

Currently he resides in the island of Anguilla where he is the reigning NBA (National Bank of Anguilla) King. Eric visits St. Kitts about three or four times a year especially during the Carnival season.

He placed first runner-up in St. Kitts National Calypso Competition 2002-03 and in first runner-up in the Anguilla National Calypso Competition for Carnival 2003.

"I feel that Calypsonians are messengers," says Saunders. "This is why I have not totally decided on what songs I am going to sing for the competition this year."

"I am more socially oriented when it comes to my songs," he said.

Presently, the Calypsonian is popular in the Proud Sounds Tent for his song "Throw water pon dat."

"This song is structured around issues surrounding life in our country and persons not wanting me to sing on those issues and wanting me to forget about them," he explained.
He has released his album on radio stations such as Winn FM, ZIZ and Sugar City Rock and mentioned that he has not been able to fully assess the overall reaction of the public to his album as yet until the night of the big show.

He also wished everyone an enjoyable carnival: "I wish everyone would have a peaceful and enjoyable carnival and I hope you will all come out and support the Calypso shows this year, I do not feel that there was enough support last year on that part, but I hope to see an increase".
