~~Adz:Left~~(Charlestown, Nevis. 13-Nov-06) A large number of Nevisians and friends of St. Kitts-Nevis received an update last week on activities in Nevis when Premier, the Hon. Joseph Parry addressed a gathering at the West Indian Centre in Leeds, England.
In a brief address, Mr. Parry outlined some of the present industries and their status in Nevis.
As Nevisians at home and abroad we should be proud as we have a lot going for us economically. We are viewing strong potential growth for our Financial Sector and Tourism Industry on the island.
After the well received speech by the Premier a question and answer session followed.
~~Adz:Right~~Some of the issues raised by the audience included the Nevis Tourism Authority having an office outside of Nevis, the incentives available for people to returning to Nevis and matters related to land ownership on the island.
The Premier and by extension Nevis received also some media attention when Yorkshire Television, one of the local television stations in the UK was present at the meeting. Prior to the meeting they interviewed Premier Parry and videotaped a large portion of the meeting. The interview and meeting was aired locally in Yorkshire as part of the afternoon news package on the following day.
On the panel at the meeting with Mr. Parry was the Chair-person of the St. Kitts- Nevis Association of Leeds, Mrs Gloria Hanley and Council-woman Ms. Jane Dawson.
~~Adz:Left~~Premier Parry would like to express thanks to Major Ashley Rawlins who met and chauffeured him around Leeds, Major Rawlins is a Nevisian Deputy Lord Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, and the Queen Representative for the area.
