(Basseterre; St. Kitts) The annual Speech Day and Graduation ceremony of the Sandy Point High school was held under the distinguished patronage of the acting Governor General, Sir Edmund Lawrence.
The ceremony adopted the theme of the 40th Anniversary celebration, "Forty Years in mission: Guiding the Nation With a Positive Vision".
It was indeed an auspicious occasion, which focused on commemorating the accomplishments of the Sandy Point High School throughout its forty years of existence.
All were honoured by the presence of the first principal Rev. Joseph Manchester. His address was inspirational and ardent.
He underscored Latin proverbs which guided him through his tenure both as a student and as a principal, which he said, he would often rely on for his own motivation;
He also admonished students to Carpe Diem which translates "Seize the Moment".
The celebration continued with exceptional performances by, the school choir, the steel band orchestra, the dance academy and a superb dramatic presentation of Macbeth coordinated by the 5th form literature students.
The graduands were specially decked in gowns, caps and tassels for the first time ever. ~~Adz:Right~~Among them were the best boy and girl Vondez Phipps and Joya Mullix respectively. In their reflections they expressed heartfelt thanks to their teachers, parents and mentors for channeling their success.
Honourees included, Rev. Joseph Manchester, Harowe Servo, Mrs. Joycelyn Wiltshire, Mrs. Carla Diamond, Ms. Rosemary Govia and Deputy Principal, Mr. Christopher Herbert.
The ceremony culminated with a candle light procession. Forty past students of the school marched slowly to the melodious pan music, passing the light one to another and lifting their candles as a symbol of gratitude to their Alma Mata.

The Sandy Point High School under the capable leadership of Principal Lorozine Williams continues to triumph in academics as well as athletics.
