    (Basseterre; St. Kitts):
First there was one and now there are two.  C&C Supermarket opened another branch supermarket last Friday, Nov. 17.  The first supermarket is situated on George Street, where Barker & Kelly Supermarket was located.

The new supermarket is situated at the Bay Road in a building which formerly housed the National Supply (Tony Hull) Supermarket.

A soft opening ceremony was held to commemorate the opening of the supermarket and featured specially invited guests including the Minister of National Security, Dwyer Astaphan and other officials.

Scott Caines, owner of both supermarkets said that with the new supermarket they hoped to accomplish their target.

"We are very excited about our new supermarket; it was a challenge but we're very pleased with the results," he said.  "We're targeting the people who live in the West area of the island specifically who can come to our supermarket and catch the bus to their way home as well as those who come down from Nevis."

~~adz:Right~~Caines who is also the proprietor of Frank B Armstrong, a wholesale distributor, said that the brands they carry are very unique products that cater to Caribbean people.

The supermarket offers a meat/poultry section, regular food, cleaning items, a beauty and skin care section and very soon a Rotisserie Chicken operation.

The supermarket also targets the mid-range and low end customers who want to buy great products for low prices as well as buying from a supermarket where they can eat healthy at low prices.

After the opening the guests were taken inside for a short tour of the supermarket and already customers had begun to shop.

"This is the people's supermarket," said Earl. "The people from the countryside can come, buy their food and jump on a bus.  I'll definitely continue shopping here."

Verlyn Warner said that the prices are reasonable and cheaper than other supermarkets.

"It's more convenient for me; I'm from Boyds and I have to come to town to shop because there is no Supermarket where I live,' she said.

The construction of the building is also unique; the design was done by PW Davis Associates Architecture Firm and construction was done by Tazzy's Construction.
