St. Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry & Commerce
    (Basseterre; St. Kitts): Thirty high school students from St. Kitts and Nevis will on the night of Wednesday, December 6, 2006 be awarded certificates of recognition for their outstanding performance in the 2006 overseas examinations.
     
    The event is the 20th Academic Excellence Recognition Awards Ceremony, to be held at Ocean Terrace Inn.  The Awards ceremony is part of an academic excellence project being sponsored by Cable & Wireless (St. Kitts and Nevis) Ltd and co-ordinated by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Education.
     
    Among the students to be honoured is Ms Shauntel Liburd, the Federations State Scholar.  Students from the Technical, Arts, Sciences & General Studies, Nursing and Teacher Education Divisions of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) will also be receiving awards.  Once teacher from each of the nations nine secondary schools, and four from the CFBC will also be recognised for their invaluable contribution towards the educational development of their students.
     
    Guest Speaker for the 20th Academic Excellence Recognition Awards Ceremony is local attorney and Speaker of the National Assembly, the Hon. Marcella Liburd.  It is expected that the Academic Excellence Recognition Awards Ceremony will also be addressed by the Hon. Sam Condor, Minister of Education; Chamber President, Mr Franklin Brand; and Ms Patricia Walters, Chief Executive for Cable & Wireless (St. Kitts and Nevis) Ltd.  The ceremony will be centred around a buffet dinner.
