On Friday, Nov. 24, the Ivor Walters Primary School honoured the late Ivor Walters through its annual Ivor Walters Day, which was held at the Occasions grounds at Farms Estate.

The staff and students held a brief ceremony to mark the achievements of the late Ivor Walters and presented his wife, Mildred Walters with a gift basket to show their appreciation.

The students also did a variety of cultural dances to mark his achievements.

In 1970, as a result of the Christena disaster, the Prospect Primary School lost its Head Teacher, James Elliott and Ivor Walters succeeded him.

Walters was instrumental in the establishment of the School's Feeding Programme through the sponsorship of the Christian Children Fund (CCF).  He was also involved in the local training of substitute teachers.

In 1987, after 37 years of teaching, Walters was transferred from Prospect Primary to the Education Department where he was appointed Education Officer.  He also served as Assistant Secretary in the Premier's Ministry and after his retirement in 1989, he was recalled to serve as Senior Education Officer. ~~adz:Right~~
