St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, who was in Taiwan on an Official Working Visit, on Sunday, met with several students who are pursuing various degree courses at universities in Taiwan.
Dr. Douglas, who hosted the students at a luncheon at the Grand Formosa Regent in Taipei, heard first hand accounts of the concerns of the students and promised to discuss them with the relevant officials of the Government of the Taiwan.
You are our eyes and ears and are acquiring knowledge, experience and skills so that on return home you can make a contribution, not only for your personal fulfillment, but also to the social, economic and political development of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Douglas said.
You have a responsibility to self, family, and country to apply yourself diligently. Firstly, you are here as students to observe and to become acquainted with the culture, environment and the people among whom you live, said the Prime Minister, who informed them that he has been having discussions with several officials of the Government of the Republic of China on Taiwan so that many more of our students will come to Taiwan.
Dr. Douglas told the students his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration was responding to the challenges facing the local economy and we now have to change our own outlook on life.
He informed them that he has approached the Government of the Republic of China on Taiwan to assist us in this era of transformation and you are the agents of change in St. Kitts and Nevis.~~adz:Right~~
