~~Adz:Right~~BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (December 4, 2006): The Annual World Aids Day Parade on Dec 1, publicly launched a month of raised awareness during what has traditionally been a highly promiscuous season among certain groups in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Youth organizations, school students, private sector and government representatives lead by staff of the Ministry of Health and specifically the Health Promotion Unit marched through the streets of Basseterre reminding persons of their responsibility to themselves and others.

During this World AIDS Campaign it is hoped that the focus on HIV/AIDS will put into sharp focus the importance of being responsible concerning sexual activity during the season of high spirits.

Health Promotions Unit Staff Gardenia Destang Richardson localized the International theme 'Keep the Promise - Stop HIV/AIDS' with a sub-theme  'More Fun! More Protection!,' mirroring to the Carnival Slogan 'More Culture! More Fun! Party Carn Dun'.

Other activities for the month include a free AJA concert, an HIV/AIDS whistle stop, a national voluntary counseling and testing day where an HIV/AIDS Booth will be set up in Basseterre from which condoms and information materials will be distributed.

Volunteers for these activities are invited to call the National AIDS Secretariat at 467-1234.
