BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 7TH 2004) – A BWIA jet was grounded at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport after it developed a fuel leak on Monday.
The aircraft, with 99 passengers on board arrived here Monday afternoon from Port of Spain, Trinidad to pick up an additional 56 persons, who were guests at the Royal St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort and Casino, to take them back to Canada.
Prior to departure, a fuel leak was discovered, forcing the flight to Canada to be cancelled. The 155 passengers and crew were forced to overnight at the Royal St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort. Another BWIA aircraft arrived Tuesday with a repair crew and took the passengers to Canada.
A part, which was needed to correct the problem, was flown in from Port of Spain and following completion of repairs the aircraft left St. Kitts on Thursday afternoon for Trinidad.
