BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 7TH 2004) – A British Airways 747 is expected to land at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport from London’s Heathrow on Saturday.

General Manager of TDC Airlines, Mr. Elroy Lewis told the Communications Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office, the BA 747, will be arriving at 5:45 P.M. with over 270 passengers for the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis.

Mr. Lewis said British Airways will return to St. Kitts on May 16th with another 270 passengers and departs on the 17th with the group that would have completed the first week’s visit. British Airways will also operate back to back charters on May 22nd and 23rd.

British Airways first landed in St. Kitts in 1983 when it brought Britain’s Princess Margaret to attend the Independence Celebrations.

General Manager of the Four Seasons Resort on Nevis, Mr. Robert Whitfield said the arrival of the British passengers is the result of 18 months of an “Exclusively Nevis” promotion in the United Kingdom.

“We are now seeing the fruits of our efforts. This promotion has led to a substantial increase in business from the United Kingdom and this UK market is now significant compared to the US market,” Whitfield told the Communication’s Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office.

He said under the programme “large corporations can take over the resort for one week.”

A special event of the visits will be two one-day international cricket matches between a British team and a selection from the Four Seasons Resort.
