    ~~Adz:Left~~27 December 2006: As a result of Operation Shakedown conducted between 23rd and 26th December 2006, the security forces stopped and searched over five hundred (500) persons for Possession of Firearms, Ammunition, Drugs and other Weapons. On 26th December 2006, (Jouvert Morning) a total of four hundred and fifty (450) persons and eighty-seven (87) vehicles were searched at three (3) vehicle checkpoints that were established at the main roads into Basseterre. Stemming from the operation, which was conducted in the areas of West Farm, Conaree, and New Road, two (2) machetes and three (3) scissors were confiscated.
     
    The following persons were arrested and charged on 22nd December 2006:
     
    1.     Craig Herbert of Upper Market Street was charged with the offence of (1) Threatening Language, (2) Battery on Police, and (3) Indecent Language, committed on 21ts December 2006.
     
    2.     Ashley Allers of Fort Lands was charged with the offence of Assault, committed on 21st December 2006. He was later bailed in the sum of $1,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrates Court on 27th December 2006.
     
    3.     Alanzo Connor of Basseterre was charged with the offence of Rape, committed on 19th December 2006. He was bailed in the sum of $75,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrates Court on 8th January 2007.
     
    On 22nd December 2006 at the Sandy Point Magistrates Court, Terrance Wilson alias Redman of Lodge Project was convicted of Possession of Controlled Drug To wit Cannabis. He was fined $1,000.00 to be paid in one (1) month or in default to serve three (3) months imprisonment for the offence, which was committed on 8th December 2006.
     
    On 23/12/06 Giron Browne of Keys Extension was arrested and charged with the offence of Possession of Controlled Drugs to wit Cannabis, committed on 23rd December 2006. He was later bailed in the sum of $10,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrates Court on 27th December 2006.
     
    The following person were arrested and charged 0n 24th December 2006:
     
    1.     Steadroy Scott of Water Works, Cayon was charged with the offences of (1) Disorderly Conduct, (2) Indecent Language, (3) Escaping Lawful Custody, (4) Resisting Arrest, and (5) Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon, to wit a knife, committed on 24th December 2006.
     
    2.     Crispin Carey of Shelford Street, Tabernacle was charged with the offence of Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon, to wit a machete, committed on 24th December 2006. He was bailed in the sum of $2,000.00 to appear at the Sandy Point Magistrates Court on 29th December 2006.
     
    3.     Fitzroy Wilkinson of Cotton Ground was charged with the offence of Possession of Cannabis, committed on 24th December 2006. He was  later bailed in the sum of $2,000.00 to appear at the Charlestown Magistrates Court on 9th January 2007.
     
    4.     Glerry Weeks of Hamilton, Nevis was charged with the offence of Larceny, committed on 4th November 2006. He was bailed in the sum of $2,000.00 to appear at the Charlestown Magistrates Court on 9th January 2007.
     
    5.     Sheyna Jeffers of Cotton Ground was charged with the offence of Larceny, committed on 4th November 2006. She was bailed in the sum of $2,000.00 to appear at the Charlestown Magistrates Court on 9th January 2007.
     
    The following persons were arrested and charged on 25th December 2006:
     
    1.     Anthony Francis of Hanleys Road, Ginger Land, was arrested and charged with the offence of Larceny, committed on 23rd December 2006.
     
    2.     Glenford Thomas alias Capie of Lower Monkey Hill was charged with the offence Carrying Abroad an Offensive weapon to wit a knife, and Possession of a Controlled drug to wit Cannabis, committed on 26th December 2006. He was later bailed in the sum of $2,000.00 to appear at the Sandy Point magistrates Court on December 2006.
     
    The police will like to take this opportunity to urge business owners to make regular checks on their business places during this Festive Season, while their businesses are closed, as a precautionary measure. And, also, ensure that their business places are secured and to report any incidents at the earliest.
