    Basseterre, St. Kitts (January 12, 2004): Winners from the 2003 - 04 Carnival Season will be rewarded for their participation later this week.

    A release from the Department of Culture revealed that the closing ceremony and prize giving takes place on Friday, January 16 at Carnival Village. The event which begins at 7:00 p.m. is organised by the National Carnival Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sport.

    The ceremony will commence with a rendition of the National Anthem by Carencia Hodge to be followed by remarks from Chairman Allister Williams. A dance presentation by NG Steppers and a song by Rasta Pet will follow.

    The distribution of prizes will then commence with the Talented Teen and OECS Junior Calypso King receiving their rewards. The remainder of the evening will follow a similar format with performances by Princess P, Queen Kibie, Unexpected and King Ayatollah. These artistes are scheduled to perform between award presentations.

    Prizes will be distributed to the winners of the King and Queen of the Festival, Female Calypso Bacchanal, Car Show, Party Monarch, National Queen Pageant, Calypso Monarch and street activities.

    Special recognition will be paid to Hughmiller “Mighty Gazer” Salters, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force and Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. The ceremony will climax with a jam session by the Grand Masters bringing down the curtains on National Carnival 2003 - 04.
