    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 11TH 2004)
    – St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas left here Tuesday for Tobago to attend the Thirty-Fourth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
     
    The May 12th and 13th meeting will be held at the Hilton Tobago.

    During the Opening Ceremony, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, the Hon. Patrick Manning, and Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, the Hon. Orville London, will give welcome addresses. Chairman of the Board of Governors and Governor for Trinidad and Tobago and Minister of Planning and Development, the Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis will chair the Meeting.

    The Governors’ Meeting was preceded by a series of other meetings, beginning with a meeting of CDB’s Board of Directors on Monday, May 10.
     
    On the morning of Tuesday, May 11, the 21st Annual Meeting of Contributors to CDB’s Special Development Fund was held, followed by a discussion session for Governors on Agriculture and Rural Development.

    On May 11, Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West Indies, Professor the Hon. Rex Nettleford, will deliver the Fifth William G. Demas Memorial Lecture beginning at 7:30 p.m. Professor Nettleford will speak on the topic Culture and Development.
     
    Prime Minister Douglas, who is Governor for St. Kitts and Nevis on the Bank’s Board of Governor’s, is accompanied by Alternate Governor and Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Vance Amory; Financial Secretary of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Wendell Lawrence, Financial Secretary of Nevis, Mr. Laurie Lawrence and St. Kitts and Nevis Director of Planning, Mrs. Hillary Hazel.
     
    Chairman of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Joseph Edmeade and General Manager, Mr. Auckland Hector are also attending the meeting.
     
    Several officials from the St. Kitts-based Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) are also in Tobago for the CDB Board of Governor’s Meeting.
