Premier of Nevis the Hon. Joseph Parry
    CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (January 19, 2007) --
Premier Parry met with members of Cabinet and Advisors in the Nevis Island Administration, to review the past six months and to plan for the first half of 2007. The meeting was held on Friday January 19th at the Mount Nevis Hotel in Newcastle.

During a brief interview with the Department of Information, Mr. Parry said the meeting would also serve to bring the participants together at the beginning of the new year, to evoke the spirit of oneness and to establish timelines.

What we [Government] want to establish for all the civil service is that we are working in unison and we are working as one but more importantly, is to get the message across of what our objectives are and to establish timelines and targets, so the work that we need to be done in the first six months is done or at least nearly done.

We have to make sure that everybody understands what the objectives are and why we are doing what we are doing. In this way, we believe that we can make considerable progress over the next six months. We have all the ministers, all the junior ministers all the advisors here at Mount Nevis this morning, he said.

Mr. Parry disclosed that these types~~adz:right~~ of meetings would be held at least twice annually and the next meeting was slated for end of June or early in July.

He said that internal meetings had already taken place between the Heads of Departments and Permanent Secretaries, while the Ministers continued to meet with their respective departments, so that all members of staff in any department would have had discussions either by the end of January or in February.
