    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 12TH 2004) – Dominica’s new Prime Minister, the Hon. Roosevelt Skerritt, is the Guest Speaker at the Public Session of the two-day 72nd Annual Conference of the ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party this weekend.
     
    The Conference on May 15th and 16th is being held under the theme: “Strong and Stable Leadership in a Challenging Global Environment.”
     
    The Public Session on Saturday May 15th will be held in the Grand Dome (Events Center) at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, at which Prime Minister Skerritt will give the feature address.
     
    Political Leader of the ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, will welcome the Party Leadership, Cabinet Ministers, Delegates, the Executive of the St. Kitts Trades and Labour Union, members of the Diplomatic Corps and representatives of private sector groups and non-governmental organisations and other invited guests.
     
    Also expected to attend are several overseas visitors including Leader of the Opposition in Anguilla, Hon. Hubert Hughes and Mr. Felix Fleming, also of Anguilla; Commissioner of Public Works and Environment in the Island Government of St. Maarten, the Hon. Roy Marlin, President of the ruling Democratic Party (DP) in St. Maarten, Mr. Erno La Bega and former DP Commissioner, Mr. Michael Ferrier.
     
    The ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP) will be represented by Member of the National Council, Attorney at Law, Mr. Edmund Hinkson. Mr. Hinkson is a former Vice President and Public Relations Officer of the BLP.
     
    The newly-crowned Miss Labour, Miss Merlene Francis, her runners-up and other contestants will be presented to Conference delegates and the Labour Party leadership will honour eight Mothers, one from each of the constituencies in St. Kitts.
     
    The Business session of the Conference takes place at the Factory Social Center on Sunday 16th May at 10:00 A.M.
     
    Prime Minister Douglas during his address to Conference Delegates is expected to record the major achievements of his grass-roots political party over the last 12 months, give account of his stewardship and outline the way forward to ensure continued confidence in his two-term administration and continued social, economic and political stability in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    During the Business Session which is closed to the public, delegates from the local and overseas branches will receive the National Executive and Financial Reports, discuss resolutions from the Executive and Constituencies, elect Officers and a new National Executive and set the place and date for the next Annual National Conference.
