LAWFUEL - US Legal News- R. Alexander Acosta, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Anthony V. Mangione, Acting Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration, Miami Division (DEA), Alan Brown, Deputy Assistant Police Commissioner, Metropolitan Police - New Scotland Yard, and Robert Jeffers, Police Commissioner, Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police, announced that Glenroy Matthew, of St. Kitts, was sentenced on January 29, 2007 by U.S. District Court Judge K. Michael Moore to 135 months' imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiring to import cocaine into the United States, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 952(a) and 963. Matthew is the last of four defendants to be sentenced for participating in a conspiracy that was lead by former Jamaican Shower Posse leader Charles "Little Nut" Miller. ~~adz:Right~~

The case was the result of a joint ICE and DEA investigation of AmeriJet International employees who were using the freight air carrier to smuggle cocaine into Miami from various Carribean Islands. Matthew was the exclusive agent for AmeriJet on the island of St. Kitts.

Mr. Acosta commended the tremendous investigative efforts of the ICE, DEA, Serious Crime Group New Scotland Yard, and The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Russell R. Killinger and Todd Mestepey.
