BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 14TH 2004) - The Caribbean Student Association at the university of Alabama in Huntsville, is reporting that its recently-held Mini Carnival Parade and Food Fair was a success.

“This year our event was once again a huge success. This followed the typical format of our Caribbean parade where students paraded around a small section of the campus to Caribbean music. Our records indicate that approximately 90 to 100 people participated in the event,” said President of the association, Kittitian Beverly Dunrod.

She said a large number of persons also showed up along the parade route to witness the event, and partake in the food fair.

“Thus far, reviews have been extremely overwhelming and very encouraging. The association is very proud of the success and is very much certain that the objectives of the event have been accomplished,” said Dunrod, who graduates with a Master of Science degree in Management in the summer.

According to Dunrod, such success would not have been possible without the support of the various persons who donated their costumes after the 2003 Carnival, the Festivals Secretariat, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Social Club, Skandal Mas out of Trinidad and Mr. Triscan Hensley of Evolutions Sound, who took the time out to play the music.

“The association is extremely committed to the aim of creating Caribbean cultural awareness among the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) community, and at the same time keeping it vibrant amongst our very own Caribbean people,” added Dunrod.
