    (Basseterre; St. Kitts):
With the ICC World Cup taking place shortly in St. Kitts, secondary and primary schools have been hosting their school activities earlier than usual.

Sports Days and Walk-a-thons are already underway.

This will not affect the education of students says Chief Education Officer, Patrick Welcome.

Welcome told SKNVibes.com that the World Cup Games will not affect the school system as schools normally close in April for two weeks.

"But to accommodate the cricket, all we're doing is closing a bit earlier," he said.

He said all schools will be closed on Friday, March 9, and re-open on Monday, March 26.

Welcome said that the schools in Basseterre would be greatly affected by the traffic when the games are taking place and that that was the main reason of schools closing early.

He further said that there are no deadlines for the sporting activities, and that the schools are doing their activities at a time convenient to them and are guided by the World Cup Committee so that there are no conflicts.

He added that some of the teachers are also cricket lovers and will be given an opportunity to go out and enjoy the games.
