BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 18TH 2004) – Eight mothers were honoured at Saturday’s Public Session of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party 72nd Annual Conference.
Minister of Social Development, Community and Gender Affairs the Hon. Rupert Herbert, presented the gifts to the 8 mothers, who were honoured by the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.
Devout Christian and mother of two, Ms. Casilda “Cass” Lapsey of Constituency # 1, was hailed for her service to the Labour Party over the past five general elections. Domestic worker, Ms. Louise Christine Kelly of Greenlands in Constituency # 2, has always been an active supporter.
Palmetto Point-born and mother of six, Cybil Gwendolyn Queeley has been employed in the tourism industry and has served at the Fair View Inn, Royal St. Kitts and is presently at Frigate Bay Beach Resort. She is

Lucinda Phillip of Challengers Village in Constituency #4, is a proud mother of 8 and a proud grandmother, who once worked in the pastry and cake making department at Jack Tar.
Ms. Phillip is an excellent ambassador for St. Kitts as she interacts with visitors at her craft vending booth at Bloody Point.
Traffic Warden at the Tyrell-Williams Primary School, Mrs. Janice Lewis-Duncan for the past seven years and a devoted Christian, is the honoured mother from Constituency # 5.
She is regularly present at Labour Party meetings, cheering on presenters. She has been a strong and vocal supporter for the Labour Party for the past 18 years.

Stone-castle, Tabernacle resident, Mrs. Deborah Morrishaw representing Constituency # 7, is an active member of the Tabernacle of Praise Church and also the United Social Club – an organisation in her village that provides youths with an opportunity to be involved in activities which are edifying, wholesome and uplifting.
Constituency # 8 “Mother of the Year” is Ms. Mary Ferdinand of Conaree, who during the dark days of the 1980’s stood out as a beacon. She has a message for the young people: “Learn about the struggles of the Labour Party, only in so doing, can you really appreciate where we are today.”
