BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 20TH 2004) – Nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis residing in New York and Connecticut in the United States and Toronto, Canada, get an opportunity this weekend to hear of developments in the twin-island Federation.
Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, who will be in Connecticut for a speaking engagement on Saturday, will meet with nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis on Sunday 23rd May at 3 P.M.
The meeting will take place at the Greenberg Center at Trinity College on 70 Vernon Street in Hartford.
Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Sam Condor, will address some 300 nationals and friends at the Friends of Labour Fifth Awards Dinner and Dance at the Marriott Renaissance Toronto Skydome Hotel, One Blue Jays Way, 2nd Floor, Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Saturday evening at 6:30.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Education, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, will stop in New York on his way home from the Republic of China on Taiwan, where he attended the inauguration Ceremony of the President and Vice President.
Mr. Harris will meet with nationals at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on 777 East 222 Street, in the Bronx at 5:00 P.M.
The top government officials will use the opportunity to discuss issues as they affect St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean.
Tourism, agriculture, national security, telecommunications, health, education, sports, culture, lands, public utilities, the CARICOM Single Market and Economcy (CSME) and the Free Trade Association (FTAA) are among issues to be discussed.
Nationals attending the meetings in Connecticut and New York will get the opportunity to pose questions to Prime Minister Douglas and Foreign Minister Harris.
