BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 20TH 2004) - St. Kitts and Nevis Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Dwyer Astaphan will be among Caribbean tourism ministers travelling to New York City for Caribbean Week from May 31st to June 5th.
The ministers will have the opportunity to interact with their New York-based constituents at a series of town hall meetings coordinated by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO).
A CTO release said the meetings will take place in Brooklyn and the Bronx, two New York City boroughs with large populations of Caribbean nationals including Kittitians and Nevisians.
The Brooklyn meeting will be held in collaboration with the Caribbean Research Center of Medgar Evers College (CUNY).
“ The town hall meetings afford a rare networking opportunity for visiting Caribbean tourism ministers and officials to share information and exchange ideas with Caribbean nationals here who remain passionate about their countries of origin and are eager to play a part in the development of the region,” said CTO’s New York-based Director of Marketing for the Americas, Hugh Riley.
In Bronx, will be Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Harold Lovell; St. Kitts & Nevis Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Dwyer Astaphan; Dominica’s Hon. Charles Savarin and the moderator will be Senior Managing Director of Caribbean Immigrant Services, Inc., Irwine G. Clare.
Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Aloun Assamba St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Hon. Rene Baptiste and Grenada’s Hon. Brenda Hood will participate in the Brooklyn town hall meeting which will be moderated by veteran broadcaster, Donn Bobb.
