St. Kitts & Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas |
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MAY 20TH 2004) – St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas is the Guest Speaker on Saturday at an Awards Ceremony for New Arrival students in the Hartford area of Connecticut in the United States, who have excelled over the past year.
Administrator and Coach of the Low Incidence Languages in the Bi-Lingual Department of Hartford Public Schools and the Board of Education, St. Kitts-born Mrs. Etsu Bradshaw-Caines, has invited Prime Minister Douglas to address the 52 outstanding students from the Arrival Centres. The students are from around the world including the Caribbean, Bosnia and Albania.
The ceremony at the Christ Church Cathedral will also be attended by parents, Principals, Assistant Principals, the Superintendent, Director, Education Board as well as persons from the community, including Deputy Mayor, Veronica Wilson.
Prime Minister Douglas has been asked by the School Board to encourage the students to stay focus and to advise the parents how to be more supportive of their children and be aware of the many distractions that can be encountered in their environment.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Leader will also be Guest of Honour at a Reception hosted by the West Indian Social Club.
