    (Bassterre; St. Kitts):
Ashbury's and the Ballahoo Restaurant, two corporate entities lacing the Fort Street Boulevard, have shown they are very supportive of the Fort Street Beautification Project, with cash donations to Mr. Ernest Amory, Chairman of the Beautification Committee.

The handing over of the donations took place recently, during a brief ceremony at Mr. Amory's office.

Ms. Michelle Warner handed over the cheque on behalf of her company Ashbury's, while Ms. Alison Brookes presented the donation on behalf of the Ballahoo Restaurant.

Ms. Warner indicated that Ashbury's realized that they play an integral part in ensuring that Fort Street and the rest of Basseterre continue to maintain the magical appeal it has to visitors and nationals alike.

Ms. Brookes shared similar sentiments and stated that her company recognizes that with the coming of the mega event, the 2007 Cricket World Cup, to the island, it presented an ideal opportunity to show the beauty of the town and the rest of the country and they wanted capitalize on the opportunity.

Mr. Amory gratefully accepted he cheques on behalf of his committee and indicated that the cash donations would go a long way in defraying costs incurred.

He revealed that the project costs well over EC$100, 000 and the committee was well short of reaching their targeted amount.

However , he said he tried to find solace in the fact that when other business entities and individuals see how the renovations have transformed the Fort Street area to an even more beautiful look, they will be convicted of the need to give generously to the project.

Mr. Amory disclosed that there are still a number of business entities that lace Fort Street that have still not contributed to the Project. However, he did not damn them but took the opportunity to implore them to emulate the generosity of those companies that already gave.

He noted that it does not have to be much, as it is the thought that counts and every little will be appreciated.
To date, the over head wires have been removed, the side walks have been redone with fashion blocks and the ornamental lamps have been erected.

Additionally, potted plants and flags of the Group A countries of the Cricket World Cup- Australia, South Africa, Scotland and the Netherlands- and the Federation, are expected to be featured on the popular street.

The entire beautification project is expected to be completed this weekend.

TDC and Amory Enterprises have been the lead contributors in the Project.
