(Basseterre; St. Kitts): Sunday, March 11th marked the opening ceremony of the New Round-a-bout at the Robert L. Bradshaw Airport in St. Kitts.
According to Earl 'Asim' Martin, Minister of Public works and Utilities, many thought it was a mission impossible and would not happen, but thanks to God Almighty he said it is now opened.
The roundabout is designed to provide a smooth means for motorists to filter to various surrounding destinations. In order to achieve this purpose the round-a-bout has single entry carriage-ways measuring 6.5meters from each of their approaches.~~adz:Right~~
The round-a-bout has five different approaches; they are Wellington Road, the Kim Collins Highway, the main road from Conaree, the road to Robert L Bradshaw International Airport and the new West Basseterre Bypass Road.
These approaches are said to flair out into the round-a-bout at the head of which each lane of traffic is separated by raised medium. The roundabout boasts an internal diameter of fifty-eight meters.

According to one of the speakers at the opening ceremony the round-a-bout also ensures safe passage of pedestrian traffic by providing a two meter side walk around the entire perimeter, designated bus stops and pedestrian crossing.
The project also includes the provision of lighting, signage and road markings that comply with international road standards.
