(Charlestown, Nevis- March 19th, 2007) "The Starwood Hotel brand 'W', comes to Nevis with experience and style that fits into the up-market destination which Nevis has been known for,"- says Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry, as he stated in the House of Assembly on Thursday, March 16, 2007.
The Starwood, the parent company of 'W' will introduce its highly acclaimed, luxurious property, with a 150 - room hotel, under an agreement with the Nevis Island Administration.
When the doors open on January 1st 2010, the hotel will be located in the Pinney's area which is in close proximity to the city center of Charlestown.
"Nevis will not assist with any infrastructure needed for the hotel, that will come solely from the Starwood property to construct the hotel and they will have to hire a percentage of local people for the construction process," said Premier Parry at an earlier press conference.
The Starwood hotel has a long history which began in New York in 1998. An instant phenomenon, its success drove the development of more than a dozen destinations-including Sydney, Los Angeles, Honolulu and New Orleans- all in a one-year span.
The 'W' hotel presently has establishments in Barcelona, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Santiago, Athena, Istanbul and Vieques to name a few of the international cities where 'w' provides upscale, business accommodation.
