The Local Organizing Committee for ICC Cricket World Cup in St. Kitts & Nevis has issued a strong public warning that it will take firm action against anyone found attempting to illegally engage in the re-sale of match tickets.
The LOC is reminding the public that they should only purchase tickets from the authorized Ticket Centers which are situated in the Sands Complex and at the Warner Park Stadium. The official said that the LOC will exercise its rights to refuse entry to those who buy tickets from individuals who are not authorized to do so and those who are actually selling the tickets will be prosecuted.
A senior official has stated that the public should be alert and cautious about buying tickets from non approved vendors and at the same time they should report un-authorized sellers to the police or LOC.
Meanwhile, the LOC says that it has been brought to its attention that there are those in the public who have also been trying to enter the stadium with tickets that have already been used for entry through the turnstiles. In response, the security at the gates has been put on alert and the appropriate legal action will be initiated in such instances. To this end, the LOC is calling on cricket fans to desist from these and other practices that may violate the articles of the Sunset Legislation and the rules, policies and guidelines of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.
At the same time, owners and managers of media organizations in St. Kitts & Nevis are also been reminded that it would be an offense to print or broadcast advertisements that use the name, logo or other marks of the event.
The LOC however, wishes to inform the public that tickets are still available for the final game between South Africa and Australia, scheduled for Saturday 24th March. For further information about ticketing the public may contact the Ticket Centre at 465 3129.
With only two more matches remaining and with the increased arrival of fans from overseas, the LOC is anticipating a capacity crowd for Saturday and a near to capacity attendance on Thursday when Scotland and the Netherlands meet, in what many are describing as an encounter that will draw on the best skills of the players from each team. Both games, (Thursday & Saturday), are also expected to have added excitement and atmosphere, especially since the Government has declared Thursday 22nd a Half Holiday, paving the way for all Kittitians and Nevisians to attend and enjoy the closing matches of the Group Stage games being played at Warner Park.
