United National Empowerment Party (UNEP) Constituency 5 Candidate Carlton Dupont |
Basseterre, St. Kitts (Friday, June 4, 2004) The United National Empowerment Party (UNEP) launched its first candidate Carlton Dupont for constituency 5 at Bourke’s Road, Sandy Point last evening Thursday June 3, 2004.
The launched appeared successful as over 3,000 citizens of all walks of life gathered around the political platform to lend support and perhaps curious about the new party running for elections.
There were moments of excitement and rejoicing as the various speakers gave their speeches and clearly outline their objectives and plans for the Federation, while constantly expressing their heartfelt love and care for the people and sincere concerns for the overall well being of the nation.
The party’s leader Mr. Henry “Stugumba” Browne raised many issues as he strongly challenged the ruling Labour Party and their style of governance.
Dupont, presented his family to the platform, wife and two children, introducing them to the public before making his address where he gave a brief biography of himself.

He then highlighted various issues within the constituency and outlined some of his plans for rectifying them.
Dupont assured the listening audience, that his administration is 100% for the people and that even though they are not in power, there are projects they have already started, which are geared directly towards helping the people within his constituency as and the entire country.
The meeting ended with a grand party with free food and drinks where everyone present was invited back stage to dine and celebrate the launch of the new candidate and the UNEP Party. The event marked the beginning of the election campaigning for the new party with great promises that Politics and the People of St. Kitts – Nevis will experience a change like never before.
The Small Axe band and the Tomb Stone International Sound System provided music for the event.
