, St. Kitts, April 3rd, 2007 -   Ask of them and they respond with a patriotic vigour. These were the t-shirt wearing ASK ME volunteers who were the guests of honour at a recent gathering organised by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.

The ASK ME volunteers were one of the most popular features of the recent Cricket World Cup games on St. Kitts.  They gave of their time to staff the Information Booths on Fort Street and greeted visitors at the RLB Airport, as they arrived.

This past Sunday, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority gave back to the group, by hosting them to dinner at Sprat Net, as a thank you for their self-less contributions.

The twenty-eight volunteers took part in a post-mortem session before dinner, in the presence of senior tourism officials.  Here the volunteers shared their experiences and made suggestions for the future.  At the end of the session each volunteer received an individualised certificate of participation, presented to them by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Richard Skerritt.

"These certificates will be a constant reminder of the role they played in the historic hosting of the ICC CWC 2007.  The volunteers were exceptional in carrying out their duties over the 10 days of the games.  They were on hand to enhance the visitor experience on island and generate business for the tourism stakeholders. A genuine camaraderie developed amongst the group of volunteers over the period of the Cricket World Cup games, and this was evident at the gathering," said Minister Skerritt.

Corah Bowry, one of the ASK ME volunteers remarked, "money isn't all.  Hosting us to dinner and being given certificates was a surprise! And a gesture we all appreciated.  I enjoyed my time as an ASK ME volunteer and have already put my name down for the next assignment."

Asked why she got involved as a volunteer, Margaret Hodge, a returning national said, "it is my civic duty to offer my assistance when my country needs it."

The St. Kitts Tourism Authority's main mandate is to promote the destination of St. Kitts in its major visitor markets.
