Basseterre, St. Kitts (April 10, 2007): A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) has established a sisterhood between the Joseph N. France General Hospital in St. Kitts and Nevis and the General Medical University Hospital of Taiwan.
This took place April 02 when the visiting nine-member team of the Taiwan Mobile Hospital was officially welcomed to St. Kitts and Nevis.  Resident Taiwanese Ambassador His Excellency John Liu explained that during their two-week stay the Taiwanese Mobile Medical Team will work closely with the local public health professionals at the JNF General Hospital, the Alexandra Hospital in Nevis and community centers on both islands of the Federation.

The Team would also be coordinating two workshops at which research papers would be presented.

Ambassador Liu noted that the MOU formalized the existing relationship between the two countries, especially pertaining to health.  He took the opportunity on behalf of his government, to congratulate both hospitals and wish them success.

Minister of Health Honourable Rupert Herbert agreed that the MOU was of some benefit to both parties.  He said it encouraged an exchange of views and established a system where both countrys health professionals could learn from each other.~~adz:Right~~

Minister Herbert also said that it was necessary to acknowledge ones benefactors.  He specified that the value of partnerships that are forged with the private sector, regional institutions and friendly governments, particularly the government and people of Taiwan must be acknowledged and commended.
