BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS APRIL 18TH 2007- The Electoral Reform process in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis continues with the appointment of a Boundaries Technical Committee.

The Cabinet last Monday received an update on the electoral reform process and noted that although the process is behind schedule by a few weeks, the Executive Branch of Government was confident that it will be completed in good time.

During its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, Cabinet constituted the Boundaries Technical Committee which is comprised of an economist, a demographer, a statistician and a land surveyor.

The Boundaries Technical Committee is to conduct the necessary demographic and survey work to ensure that the 11 constituencies - 8 in St. Kitts and 3 in Nevis - are equitable as possible for the next
Federal Elections constitutionally due by October 2009.

The Committee will advise the Constituency Boundaries Commission on all matters of realignment.
