Carlos Adolphus, Captain of the 15-player-strong 'Big Rock' Team explained to SKNVibes.com that the he was motivated to form the team after a number of Guyanese nationals residing on Nevis expressed their interest in playing the game.

"I was motivated to form this team because a lot of the 'fellars' wanted to play the game. We got a sponsor from Gaspree 24-hour service so we took the opportunity and grabbed it with both hands and we entered the competition," he said. "We have played two games in the official competition and so far we have won both. I am very satisfied and I hope that we carry on in good form and win the competition."

The Nevis Second Division Tournament in Nevis has attracted a number of teams such as Highlights, Masters, Tuberose, Calypso as well as many other teams. In light of this Captain Adolphus explained that the team has a strenuous preparation regime.

"We have practice sessions about three nights a week routine here at the Tuberose [Ramsbury] grounds. We get the basic done and try to better the team. We also won against Empire's Cricket Club from Hanley's Road last Wednesday so the competition is looking up for us," he said.~~adz:Right~~

He continued, "While it is too early in the competition to determine the winning teams. The next two matches will determine the placement of the Big Rock in the competition. I just hope that we can get some support from the Guyanese public because the team consists mostly of Guyanese. Hopefully we will do well and carry on to the finals."

In closing the interview, Captain Carlos Adolphus advised young people to stay away from crime and gang violence by involving their selves in positive activities such as cricket.

"Cricket can help young people a lot by keeping them away from negative things because to be successful in this sport you have to be focused. You have to stay away from alcohol and drugs and these things. There are a lot of positive benefits if young people would take up the sport seriously," he said.

The Big Rock Team which is sponsored by Gaspree 24-hour service also played on Saturday at the Cricket Fest which was held at the Tuberose Ground in Ramsbury.
