Cable and Wireless continues to stretch its corporate hand of generosity.

Their latest "Good Samaritan" gesture was a financial donation to the Cayon Green Valley Festival.

The brief handing over ceremony took place at the company's headquarters in Basseterre, on Tuesday, May 8th.

Vice President of Corporate Communications for Cable and Wireless, Mrs. Laverne Caines, handed over the cheque to Mr. Vernon Benjamin, the Chairman of Green Valley Festival.

Mrs. Caines noted that the donation not only underscores her company's interests in community building but also highlights the confidence that Cable and Wireless has in the Green Valley Festival, which has been branded as the number one community festival in the country.

She noted that her company and the Festival have  had a longstanding partnership with the Festival and they have been particularly impressed with the creativeness of the those involved with the troupes and she expressed the hope that the creative juices continue to flow this year and after.~~adz:Right~~

Upon accepting the cheque, Mr. Benjamin indicated that his Committee was extremely grateful to Cable and Wireless for their generosity.

He disclosed that the financial contribution would go mainly toward the troupes.

This year, at least five troupes will participate in the Festival. The Green Valley troupes are known to be steeped in various aspects of culture and folklore and this year will be no exception, Benjamin added.

The Green Valley Festival begins on May 11th and spans several weeks, with the major events being the Green Valley Queen Pageant, the Calypso Show, the International Night, Beach Bash, Catamaran, Parade of Troupes, Jouvert and Last Lap Jams.
