Basseterre, St. Kitts (June 17, 2004): The 8th annual St. Kitts Music Festival and a number of specials are planned for the popular youth radio show “Elements of Surprise” this Saturday on ZIZ Radio.

An official from the Department of Youth confirmed that the festival co-chair Stanley Franks Jr. will appear on the programme to update patrons on developments of the festival. He will discuss the awesome roster of artistes and the additional attractions that include after parties, celebrity sport tournaments.

The talented hip hop group “Da-Embassy” will also appear on the radio show. The local four-member group is one of the many homegrown talents who are slated to perform at the Music Festival. The entertainers will give a sample of their music and speak on the beliefs of the group. Persons are encouraged to call the open lines with questions and comments for the guests.

A special guest host will join the regulars of the programme. The new Miss St. Kitts and Nevis 2003-2004 Corelle Ferlance will sit in on the Saturday morning show and add her unique flare to the discussion.
Listeners will also have the opportunity to win a special prize courtesy of a renowned artist. Co-host Pierre Liburd indicated that he will be presenting a copy of one of his paintings, courtesy P.A.L. Arts, to one person who successfully answers a trivia question. The original painting of the copy is available at Sugar Mill Art Gallery on Prince’s Street for U.S. $795.00.

Liburd said he was moved to giveaway the artwork entitled “Cultural Rhythms” to help persons realize the significant link between visual and acoustic art forms. “They go hand in hand,” he stressed. “All art forms that I use are rooted in our rich heritage. This medium displays the talents of individuals and express their ideas, opinions and creativity.” He insisted that this form of expression holds true in general and is found in modern day dancers, drummers, artists and sculptors.

Liburd added his belief that every household should have a piece of art work produced by locals. “The giveaway is just my way of contributing to this,” he said.

“Elements of Surprise” is broadcasted live on ZIZ Radio every Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
