    St. Kitts Airport
The St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority will be conducting a full-scale Emergency Exercise at the Robert L. Bradshaw Int’l Airport, at 9:00 am on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2004.

The purpose of the Exercise is to test the Airport Emergency Plan, which is a coordinated plan of action for managing emergencies at the Airport, such as an airplane crash.

Wednesday’s Activity will simulate an actual emergency, including the lighting of a fire on the Western Airport grounds to suggest a Crash landing.  Other crisis effects, including a derelict plane and volunteer victims, will be in place to maximize the authenticity of the Event.

At the sign of fire, Air Traffic Control will alert the various responding agencies, including Fire and Rescue services, Airport Administration, Medical services, Airline staff, and Police and Security units, to respond to the incident.

In addition to testing the emergency procedures, the Exercise will evaluate communication and equipment capabilities, as well as the responses of the involved agencies.  It is hoped that the responding organizations will become more aware of and ready to activate their roles in the event of a Crisis situation.  The Activity will also help the Airport to appraise the effectiveness of its coordinated emergency response and correct any deficiencies.

Airport operations will continue as usual for the duration of the Exercise.  However, security access restrictions will be enforced for all non-authorized personnel at the Command and ‘Crash’ sites.

The St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority solicits the cooperation of the general public during this important Exercise.
