Active member of Windfes commitee Collette Weekes, Right- Executive Director of Finance and Marketing for Windfes committe Patrice Wilkins
(Charlestown, Nevis)-- The St. James Festival Committee hosted a Windfes over the weekend of May 25 until Whit Monday on May 28.
"We are really just striving to bring together members of the community as well as the youth so that they can get themselves involved in positive activities and stay away from trouble," said Collette Weekes, an active member of the Windfes 2007 Committee.
The fest was sponsored by Chippie and opened with a ceremony on Friday and a variety concert at White Hall.

According to Weekes, Windfes is an organization which was created with the sole intention of promoting togetherness in the St. James community.
On Saturday the Windfes Committee hosted a Food Fair and Fun Day at the Violet O. Jeffers Nichols School grounds in Combermere.  On hand to provide live entertainment was Odisi Underground Hi Fi.
Weekes said that they want the youth to grow up to be obedient and listen to their parents.
"There are so many different things to do to develop your mind," she said.  "So we set this event to promote unity and so that the people of the community could come together as one."

The festival concluded on Monday, May, 28 with the St. James Family Affair on Herbert's Beach.  Other activities such as an early morning J'Ouvert jam and a tribute to the late Herald Sutton were also held.

Windfes was the brainchild of Patrice Wilkins, Executive Director of Finance and Marketing for the Windfes Committee 2007 who also expressed his desire to provide opportunities for youth to be gainfully occupied.

"I am very happy to see the event come off as it is the first ever and I am looking forward to the conclusion as I think it is going to be a success," he said.  "We are really looking forward to next year which will be even greater and bigger."
