(Basseterre; St. Kitts): The Honourable Malcolm Guishard, Leader of the Opposition in the Federal Parliament and former Minister of Tourism in Nevis has died. Sources say that he suffered from a Heart Attack.
It is said that Guishard was swimming at the beach earlier this morning, Monday, June 11, and further complained of chest pains.
An ambulance was summoned to the scene and while in the process of transporting Guishard to the hospital he succumb to the illness.
Guishard was a member of the Concerned Citizen's Movement, the former administration in Nevis. He was described as a man of action who gets things done. It is said that he presided over the infrastructural revolution that took place in Nevis.
His visionary and energetic leadership in tourism, housing and agriculture provided the basis for recent prosperity, where the performance of Nevis in most spheres of activity is above the Caribbean average.
