    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (JUNE 12, 2007) -- At approximately 12:24 pm on Monday June 11, 2007 an over-current fault on the Cayon Feeder caused Caterpillar #1 to trip offline.

     

    The Caterpillar #1 was restarted and placed online at 1:30pm however at 2:15 pm it lost its load and smoke was observed in the cable trenches nearby.~~Adz:Right~~    

     

    At 2:30 pm Basseterre North Feeder tripped causing the Mirrlees 8MB430 engine to trip and technicians to transfer a portion of its load to Basseterre South, since the fault was found at Taylors Range.

    At 4:02pm an over-current fault on the Bayfords Feeder, caused the Sandy Point and Frigate Bay Feeders and all engines to trip offline. All other feeders that were closed were opened to allow restoration of the system. By 4:30 pm Canada and SSMC were re-closed. By 4:55 pm Industrial Site, Frigate Bay, Basseterre South, Port Zante and Sandy Point were all re-closed.

     

    By 5:30 pm Basseterre North was transferred to Basseterre South and Sandy Point Feeders. The Bayford fault was identified and isolated and that feeder closed at 6:08 pm. Sequential closing of the Cayon Feeder began at approximately 5:45 pm and completed at 6:15 pm.

     

    Tests have been carried out on the Caterpillar #1 engine and the results will be discussed with the manufacturer before the engine is restarted.
