Cayon traffic accident miraculously leaves female driver unharmed

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN what police described as “a very suspicious accident”, a female last night (June 13) luckily escaped injury as the car she was driving ran off the road, flew over a wall and nested atop the rubbles of the old Cayon Library that was recently destroyed by fire.

The accident reportedly occurred around 10:00 p.m.

One woman was left unharmed but the vehicle PA2135 looked totally damaged.

According to eyewitness account, the vehicle (PA2135) was travelling along the Island’s main Road heading in the direction of Basseterre when the incident occurred.

The eyewitness alleged that the vehicle knocked down a child before running off the road, and that the driver ran away from the scene.

However, Sergeant (SGT) Caines of the Cayon Police Station told this media house that the driver did not flee the scene.

He said that he could not offer much information because “the incident seemed very suspicious and something might have been wrong with the car, judging from the path it took and where it ended up”.

SGT Caines also said that the driver was unharmed and the child was slightly brushed by the car and not directly struck.

He added that the child [boy] is okay and was not in need of medical attention.

SGT Caines informed that the matter is being investigated but the female driver indicated to the police that she could not remember what happened.

The accident occurred less than a hundred meters from Maynard’s Park where the Green Valley celebrations where concluding.
